The Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel funeral service professionals are trained to assist you with every detail of making funeral and memorial arrangements. This includes offering advice and guidance throughout the decision-making process, answering questions about local customs and costs, assuring that legal requirements are met, and providing whatever equipment, facilities, and technical services are necessary or desired. Our staff is prepared to carry out the wishes of the survivors with understanding, compassion and consideration for everyone concerned.

Doug LundDoug Lund
Doug Lund was born in Dawson, Minnesota, and attended public schools in Dallas, Oregon. He is a graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. After completing an internship in Salem, Doug worked in Salem and Portland before moving to Cottage Grove in 1965. He purchased the former Smith Mortuary and later purchased the Mills Mortuary, combining the businesses as Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel. Over the years, Doug has been active in community service. He is a member and Past President of the Cottage Grove Hospital Board and active in his church. He is currently also a member of the Cottage Grove Community Hospital Foundation. Doug and his wife, Jeryl, have two children and four grandchildren. He likes traveling, downhill skiing, sailing and visiting the Oregon Coast. He also has an interest in photography.

Mark LundMarc Lund

Marc Lund is a life long resident of Cottage Grove. A 1988 graduate of Marist High School in Eugene, Marc served in the Army Reserve for eight years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. In 1992, he received the Army Achievement Medal for being selected Brigade Soldier of the Year. In 1993, Marc received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Linfield College in McMinnville, where he was also elected a member of Delta Mu Delta, a National Honor Society in Business Administration. Following graduation, Marc served a Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprenticeship at Mt. Scott Funeral Home in Portland. In 1995, he received an Associate of Science Degree in Mortuary Science at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. After receiving his license, Marc returned to Cottage Grove to work in the family business. He is currently President of Lund Diversified & Lund Cemeteries Inc. and is General Manager of the funeral chapel and Fir Grove Cemetery. He is Past President of the Oregon Funeral Directors Association, and Past Policy Board representative for the National Funeral Directors Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of South Lane County Fire and Rescue. Marc lives in Cottage Grove with his wife, Christina, and their two sons. He enjoys snow skiing, snowboarding, hunting and traveling.

Christina LundChristina Lund

Christina is the Co-Owner of Smith-Lund-Mills with her husband, Marc Lund. Christina graduated from Linfield College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Business Administration and Finance. While at Linfield she was very involved in school activities, local politics and was elected Student body Vice President in her senior year. She is licensed in both property/casualty and life/health insurance. Christina is a Certified Preplanning Counselor. She serves on many local boards such as South Lane Wheels and CASA of Lane County. Christina is active in a variety of civic groups including Cottage Grove Rotary, the WOE fair board and Junior League. She and Marc are the proud parents of two boys, Jack and Nicholas. A resident of Cottage Grove for over 10 years, Christina enjoys cooking, skiing and family events. She volunteers her time fundraising and working towards the betterment of children.

Troy Prince

Troy was born in Cottage Grove and raised in Yoncalla.  He graduated from Yoncalla High School.  After graduating high school Troy worked for North Douglas Wood Products for a short time before becoming a Personal Trainer/Chiropractors Assistant.  Troy began working at Smith-Lund-Mills/Fir Grove Cemetery in 2006.  He is an integral part of our cemetery services team.  He also assists with funeral home and crematory duties.  Troy enjoys fishing, exercising and being outdoors.  He and his wife Stephanie live in Cottage Grove with their son Chase.    


Gary Mowrey

Gary Mowrey lives near Dorena Lake in Cottage Grove, where he enjoys doing yard work, pursuing genealogy. He came to Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in 1998 from California, where he worked in funeral service management for 15 years with four different establishments in the greater Los Angeles area.

Bonita Butler

Bonita Butler was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and moved to Cottage Grove in 2006.  Before being hired as a receptionist for Smith-Lund-Mills Bonita worked in the non-profit sector for over 32 years and was last employed by the Youth Law Center since it's inception in 1978.  Spending time exploring Oregon is something Bonita is looking forward too and especially enjoys going to the coast.  Some of her pastimes are walking, reading, cooking and gardening.

Linda Green

Linda Green, a native Oregonian, was born in Vernonia and grew up and attended school in The Dalles. She attended Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington, near Seattle. She began working as a receptionist for Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in early 2000.Before that, she had served as a secretary for various churches, and also for a small private school for over 20 years. Early on, before moving to western Oregon, she was a secretary in the office of the District Attorney of Wasco County. Linda and her husband have lived in Cottage Grove since 1982, where they pastor a local church. They have three children and four grandchildren. In her spare time, Linda enjoys hiking, working outside, music and traveling. Her very favorite thing is spending time with her grandkids.

Patrick Dolan

Patrick Dolan is the Sexton for Fir Grove Cemetery. For 30 years he taught science, social studies and history at the former Lincoln Junior High School and at Cottage Grove High School. While at Lincoln, he was chosen as a teacher of the year and he also received a spirit award. Patrick coached basketball for 28 years, track for 23 years, and football for four years. Prior to moving to Cottage Grove, Patrick taught for five years in Montana high schools and was a teaching assistant for a year at Montana State University. In 1967, he earned his Master of Science degree in the History of Science with a Zoology minor. In 1961, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in general studies from Montana State College with a major in Social Studies and a minor in Science. Patrick is married and has four sons, one daughter and nine grandchildren. In his spare time, he likes to read, hunt, ski, and attempt to play golf.

Wes Gordon
Wes Gordon is a long-time area resident, he moved to Yoncalla in 1944 and then to Cottage Grove in 1978. With responsibility for ground maintenance for Fir Grove Cemetery since 1997, Wes says he enjoys making improvements to the cemetery so that it can look beautiful for the families who visit. He is married, has four children and enjoys hunting, fishing and woodworking.

David Spriggs
David is a 5th generation Oregonian whose family moved here via the Oregon Trail in 1846 and 1853. Graduate of Cottage Grove Union High School, Lane Community College and the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Personnel and Industrial Management. Retired from Lane County after 23 years serving as Director of Elections and Sign Shop Supervisor. Retired Lieutenant Commander with 30 years service, active and reserve, in the Naval Reserve. Life member of the local Masonic Lodge. Elder, First Presbyterian Church. Married to the former Joy Samson. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Steve Allen
Steve was born and raised in Cottage Grove, attending local schools and the University of Oregon.  He worked various jobs while going to school and became a volunteer firefighter with the local fire department in 1969.  This began a 31 year career in fire service where Steve worked his way through the ranks retiring as the Fire Chief in 2000, from the Cottage Grove/South Lane Rural Fire Department.  He began working at Smith-Lund-Mills/Fir Grove Cemetery in 2005 where he spends most of his time in cemetery and equipment maintenance and burial services.  Steve enjoys most outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, camping and golfing.  He and his wife Earleine have two daughters and one grandaughter.
